Newseum: Rise Up Stonewall and the LGBTQ Rights Movement

Opening during the 50 year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York, this new exhibit educates visitors on the diverse individuals, eclectic protests, and activist groups that defined the LGBTQ rights movement. Content highlights the first amendment and the activism it inspired and supported. The exhibit reflects the vibrancy of the LGBTQ community, using strong graphics and a bold color palette to call attention to key individuals and artifacts. Designed to create a dynamic museum experience encouraging visitor participation, the exhibit makes special use of interactives including media stands, photo-ops, and an immersive set-up. Since 2019, the exhibit has traveled to institutions around the country, including the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle, WA, Illinois Holocaust Museum in Chicago, IL, Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum in Dallas, TX and the Memphis Museum of Science and History in Memphis, TN.
